do not drop anchor here

6 Dec

Apparently, I watch too many movies on tv.

I was sorta studying and watching “Girl, Interrupted” at the same time today. Probably more watching than studying. Anyways, Ive always thought it was a very interresting movie. Theres this one part where one of the main characters really opens up about how she is feeling, where she is at right then, facing the pain and guilt and deep sadness/sorrow. The woman she is talking to responds with “Do not drop anchor here, you understand?”

I like that quote.

Keep pressing on. Dont stop here. Move on, move past, move forward.

Sometimes we are our greatest prisons. We sell ourselves short, we choose to stay in our box. We limit oursleves to our destructive behaviors, claiming we dont care, that we cant change anyways, and we try to convince others of the same.

But you have a choice.

You can choose to stay where you are, to believe that you are incapable of more and unable to do anything about it, or you can choose to believe the Truth, leaving your stagnant state of pitty and self-doubt behind, refusing to curl up with all of that anymore.

Our sinful nature, the one we are all born into, has left us broken and damaged, but Christ wants to make us whole. We were once bound by our flesh, our sinful nature, but Christ brings freedom and Truth, forgiveness and love, grace and healing — to make us whole, to transform us into His likeness.

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (II Cor 3:17-18)

But this is a journey.

What is holding you back? What has you bound? What is keeping you stuck where you are? Do not drop anchor here. Confess it. Get it out. Tell someone who loves and cares about you. Be honest. Ask God to use you and your circumstances for His glory. Let Him make you whole. Choose to start the journey to wholeness in Christ.
