heartbreak and hard times

23 Nov

There seems to be so much happening around me, that I am forced to ponder the purpose of all the pain. Death of loved ones, intense medical situations, breakups and broken relationships, heartaches, abuse, layoffs, financial stress, etc. Its everywhere, happening all around me, to those I love and care about, even to myself. This world is full of it. We are all broken people.

But here is what I have come to believe and know is true: GOD is faithful. Always.

He can put any broken person back together again, no matter what they have been through. The Truth of His love and faithfulness can set you free. Christ died so that we could have life, and have it more abundantly (John 10:10) – more and better life than you ever dreamed of.

Sometimes it doesnt seem like that is possible. That GOD can restore abundant life. That we can trade in our ashes for beauty, our despair for peace (Isaiah 61:3). Maybe thats what faith is. In the midst of the pain, still trusting and believing the Truth.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

GOD = good. We are created to glorify Him. Everything He has given us, or allows to happen in our lives can be used to glorify Him. They say that GOD wont give you anything you cant handle, but Im not so sure. I think sometimes He does. And its in those times that we realize our need for Him, because we cannot do it alone. We must give Him the glory for carrying us through. And He is glorified when we share about His faithfulness during our hardest times with others down the road who may find themselves in similar situations.

Maybe we are like oranges. The fruit. GOD wants to peel us and squeeze us – and it hurts. But in the end, you get orange juice, and its freakin delicious. And you can share the orange juice with others, because, lets face it, orange juice rocks – who doesnt want orange juice?

I am a work in progress.
